Congratulations to the winners!

I'm pleased to announce the winners of our first ever Poetry Podcast Competition.
Thank you to our judge Daniel Howe, a local poet from Helensville. His website, where you can find some of his poetry, is called Point of View.

And the winners are....
Over-all winner ... Jamie Rugby
Younger group winner ... Sarsha. Walk to School.
Older group winner ... Brooke... Gold.

Congratulations! Jamie wins an MP3 player. Sarsha and Brooke both receive USB memory sticks.

Special mentions also to...
William. Motorbike
My Poppa. Jamie Wilson
Taryn - Sandy Relaxation
Trent. My motorbike.

This competition was run as one of the Libraries' activities for Montana Poetry day. Poetry shouldn’t stay on the page – it needs to be shared and read aloud. As Daniel says "Oral poetry is very natural and I encourage it. " So do we. Thank you to all those who shared their poems with us.

Rodney Libraries Podcast Poetry competition for Years 4-13

As part of the activities surrounding Montana Poetry Day Rodney Libraries is running a poetry competition for Year 4 -13. Poetry shouldn’t stay on the page – it needs to be shared and read aloud. Podcasting poetry gives children and teens the opportunity to share their creativity with others around Rodney District and New Zealand.

Write your poem and then record it. The poem can either be emailed as an attachment or hosted on the internet and the link included in the email entry.

There are two categories: Year 4 – 8; Year 9 – 13.

How to enter
All entries are via email to rodneylibraries@yahoo.com.au and must have the following information included:
§ Name of author
§ Library card number (if known)
§ Contact details – address and phone number
§ School and Year
§ Link to podcast or attached file

Competition runs 24 June – 25 July. The last day for entries is 25 July 2008. Winners will be notified after 8 August 2008.
